Neon Museum Photographer

  • By admin

Being a Neon Museum photographer is a lot of fun!  The historic signs make such fantastic backdrops for Las Vegas wedding photography, Las Vegas senior portraits, Las Vegas engagement photography, and HDR photography.  The photos below are from a recent Neon Museum photo shoot.  My husband, Trey Tomsik, was taking fantastic photos of a wedding couple in the Sign Boneyard while I stayed out of the way and had a bit of fun with some HDR photography.

We had less than 45 minutes of daylight during the time slot that the couple booked with the Neon Museum, but it was great to have the few signs that are powered lit up for the photo shoot.  We used a couple of off-camera flashes for the couple at the end when it was pretty dark, but even those photos turned out well.

We can be booked for $350 for 1 hour to do your Neon Museum/Sign Boneyard photo shoot.  You must first reserve a time slot and pay the Neon directly before you book with us.  It is a little pricey to book the Museum ($400-$600), so you definitely want to hire a photographer who has shot there many times!

Photography Las Vegas

  • By admin

Photography in Las Vegas can be fun!  You can have a photo shoot at many great locations in Las Vegas.  The Neon Museum/Sign Boneyard is one of the many great places in the Las Vegas area for a great engagement or wedding photo shoot.  The most important aspect for your Las Vegas photography is to find a professional Las Vegas photographer.  You want to be sure that the money that you spend on Las Vegas photography is money well spent!  You should see a full portfolio of the location or locations that you would like to use for your Las Vegas photo shoot backdrop.  Ask the right questions when interviewing your Las Vegas photographer.  Do you receive all photo rights?  Do you receive all digital images?  Are you going to be forced to do your photo printing through your photographer?  These are all things that you should consider when choosing a Las Vegas photographer.  Also, if the price is just really too good to be true, than either your photographer is not experienced and cannot get much work or there is some catch to the deal!

“Las Vegas Weddings: Getting Married in Las Vegas: Beyond the Cheap Las Vegas Strip Chapels in Today’s Tough Economy”

  • By admin

History of Las Vegas Weddings

Las Vegas hosts more than 1 in 20 marriages in the United States. Clark County (Las Vegas) issued 91,890 marriage licenses in 2010 alone. Las Vegas is also the entertainment capital of the world and with all the glitz and glamour that Las Vegas has to offer, it is a hotspot for weddings. It has gained the reputation as the “it” spot to “tie the knot!”

Even though Las Vegas is known for it’s last minute, cheesy chapel weddings and midnight drive thru weddings, this city is also home to destination weddings that require plenty of planning for in preparation of vows that last a lifetime. Las Vegas has couples from around the world planning their perfect Las Vegas destination wedding.

Since the 1930s, Nevada’s lure of fast, easy marriages has attracted countless couples looking to tie the knot. Although, the Las Vegas Chapel is still a popular option, Las Vegas now offers many more elegant, classy, and scenic option that more and more couples are choosing. Most of the Las Vegas Wedding Chapels have seen better days and are now many decades past their “heyday.”

Just like neighborhoods change over time, the “Las Vegas Chapel Row” on South Las Vegas Boulevard has dramatically changed as well. The area is now full of strip clubs, tattoo parlors, adult bookstores, pawn shops, and has a “ghetto-type” atmosphere. It is not a neighborhood that one should walk around in after dark. You may also come out of your chapel wedding to see prostitutes lingering in the area.

Modern Las Vegas Wedding Venues

Las Vegas may be best known for popularizing the wedding chapel ceremony. With opportunities for drive-through vows, Elvis impersonators to officiate, and intimate settings for elopement, Las Vegas wedding chapels provide some of the biggest business to Las Vegas’ wedding industry. But these chapels are far from the only place to be wed in this city.

The “mega” Las Vegas Strip Resorts also offer luxury Las Vegas weddings. Often organized by a hired wedding coordinator, these luxury weddings involve destination brides in intricate details and wedding day decisions. A Las Vegas luxury resort wedding offers all the commodities of a traditional wedding. This is a great option for couples where cost is not a consideration. Unfortunately, for most couples in today’s economy, cost is often the number one consideration.

The current US unemployment rate is 9.1% with an unemployment rate also topping 8% in the UK. While weddings still take place in a down economy, brides and grooms are scaling back and trimming the excess from their celebrations. The numbers show this dramatic shift: The average cost of a wedding dropped $10,000 a year after the recession began.

For destination brides or Las Vegas locals who prefer an elegant, affordable, and scenic wedding outside the Las Vegas Strip, Scenic Las Vegas Weddings is one local Las Vegas wedding company that offers many options. Scenic Las Vegas Weddings is family owned by a husband and wife team. The owners are both professional Las Vegas wedding photographers whose main goal is to provide spectacular photography, beautiful locations, and heartfelt ceremonies. Venues include: Scenic Gazebo, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, Grand Canyon, Lake Las Vegas, Mt. Charleston, Pahrump Valley Winery, Nelson Ghost Town, Death Valley, and The Las Vegas Strip. Scenic Las Vegas Weddings also offers photography only and Wedding Officiant only packages at your location or at one of theirs!

Add your PRIVATE Neon Museum/The Boneyard Photo Shoot to any Las Vegas Wedding Package!

  • By admin

The Neon Museum/The Boneyard

Before or after your fabulous Las Vegas wedding, you can add additional photography to your wedding package at the Neon Sign Museum/The Boneyard. The on-site Neon Museum is currently under construction and the Boneyard is only available for photography (private appointment only) and not wedding ceremonies at this time.

The extraordinary signs have been rescued from demolition and include signs from the Golden Nugget (built in 1946), Binion’s Horseshoe (Benny Binion served time in Leavenworth Penitentiary from 1953-1957 for tax evasion), and the Silver Slipper (built in 1950 and purchased by billionaire Howard Hughes in 1968), just to name a few. The Las Vegas Club installed the first neon sign on a casino in 1930.

Most of the signs are exhibited in “The Boneyard” where they serve as inspiration to fascinated artists, students, historians and designers. It is home to some of the most treasured and world-famous signs of Las Vegas – Caesars Palace, Binions Horsehoe, Golden Nugget, Silver Slipper, and, most recently the Stardust. The three-acre Neon Boneyard houses more than 150 historic, non-restored signs. As part of our guided tours, the signs are available to be viewed at ground level and up close. Each has been donated or loaned by individuals, businesses and sign companies such as Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO).

The Neon Museum is in the process of rehabilitating the historic La Concha Motel lobby for use as a visitor’s center. In 2006 the building was saved from destruction and moved to the Boneyard site, and in 2007 the structure was reassembled. The La Concha, a swooping curvilinear example of mid-century modern architecture, was designed by famed African-American architect Paul Revere Williams. The building is on the City of Las Vegas Historic Register.

So, take home a piece of Las Vegas history, by taking home some of the most unique, dramatic, and stunning wedding photographs ever taken and add The Neon Museum/Boneyard to any of our fabulous Scenic Las Vegas Wedding packages!
